DOOCA

At Wellesley, students have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in the student community and administration. Students interview and read applications for the board of admission, they serve as student trustees on the board of trustees, and participate in committees that plan some of Wellesley’s biggest events. Student researchers design their own experimental questions and execute them from start to finish—students are even able to publish as undergraduates! The director of on-campus affairs (DOOCA, gotta love those acronyms) spearheads being big name acts to campus for some of Wellesley’s biggest social events. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will be here in a couple of weeks thanks to them! Wellesley has a student bursar who administers thousands of dollars in student activity fees, and even a Chief Justice who upholds Wellesley’s honor code…the list goes on and on!

Currently, we’re in the midst of the annual campaign season for many of these positions. The campus is covered in banners and posters, and the debates are right around the corner. These debates are a great forum for students to come together and talk about what’s important to the student body and going on, on campus. This is how things get done, Wellesley-style!
