Last night, the office of the president (President Bottomly, that is) hosted the annual Wellesley College Debates. The debates were started by President Bottomly in 2007 to encourage thoughtful and critical debate outside of the classroom. This year’s motion was “in an ideal society, everything that is illegal is inherently immoral” (past motions have included evaluating the validity of profiling and the relevance of a women’s college in the 21st century). I participated in this year’s debate arguing for the motion along with another Wellesley student. In preparing for the debate, we worked with professors in the philosophy department here at Wellesley and at Harvard! Here’s a creeper photo that a friend of mine took during the debate:
In other news, I’m about to start a multi-week biochemistry lab series, during which I’ll try to purify the protein cytochrome C based on its unique chemical and physical properties. Fingers crossed that things go well!
