Nemo set the tone for this week at Wellesley. My roommate and I didn’t leave our dorm complex for 3 ½ days! The storm arrived around Friday morning, and didn’t let up until well into Saturday afternoon. There was even a driving ban for all of Massachusetts until 4 pm on Saturday because the roads were so unsafe. Starting Sunday, students took to the snow, and spent the day sledding down Severance Green, and building all sorts of snow men/women/structures. Families from all over the area came to campus to frolic in the snow—I’d never seen so many puppies and children in one place! Camylle (my roommate) and I are not winter weather people, but even we can appreciate how beautiful Wellesley is in the snow:
Yesterday afternoon, Junot Diaz spoke in Green Hall as part of the Distinguished Writer’s Series (every week author’s are invited to come and read and discuss their work). He was incredibly charming, and really, really real. I don’t know how else to describe it. Diaz read a couple excerpts from his latest work, “This is How You Lose Her” and I can’t wait to read the rest.
Tomorrow, for Valentine’s Day, I’m gonna make dinner for a couple of my ZA sistahs and host a small celebration in the house. On Friday, I’m heading down to NYC for the long weekend to celebrate with my valentine!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!
