Declaring My Major

I am finally a college student! I officially declared my major as a Peace and Justice Studies Major with a concentration in International Human Rights. I finally feel like a legitimate college student because I have a purpose; something to shape my classes around.

The best part about attending a liberal arts school is the majors and areas of study. This major allows me to study social justice and activism in a very practical and radical way. I often find that my classes do not offer me practical ways to effect change until I took a Peace and Justice course. Ever since then, I have seen the ways I can bring the things I learn in the classroom to the real world. Now, I have an advisor and a plan for the rest of my time at Wellesley. I am excited to see how it goes. I am going to be taking so many great classes where I will be able to discuss the creating social change. Like reading the books that are in the above image.

Deciding your Major is one of the milestones in your college career. Although your major is not the end all, be all, it can help guide your studies. It is important to choose a major that you enjoy because you are going to be taking a majority of your classes in that department. Not liking your major can seriously dampen your college experience.

That is why I am so excited about declaring this major. I see so many awesome things coming out of it. Writing this blog post made me excited!

Until next week!
