Walking around Campus

Wellesley is a beautiful place and I often find myself just walking around, listening to music. Sometimes, I am in the mood to take a walk and see where my feet take me. This is a great way to relax and collect your thoughts. I often think my most interesting ideas while walking. one of my favorite places to walk around is the Davis Museum. I loooooveee museums! You will see that more as the year continues. I love all types of museums as well.

My walk around campus led me to the Davis Museum. They were holding an event called Davis after Dark, where the museum was open after hours. The museum held events, tours and had even had food. They have tons of performers. This year, the comedy sketch group Dead Serious performed along with Cielito Lindo a Latinx dance group. I left before other groups could perform.

The museum an artist, Eddie Martinez, on exhibit with a collection of pieces called Mandala. I went to the museum today to see it and took some pictures for y’all.

I am looking forward to going back again. Museums are never just a one visit thing. You have to go back in order to see the art again, let it sink in and see a new side of it. Similar to the way you don’t listen to a song once and never again, you listen to it multiple times in order to fully appreciate it

Last week, I went to the opening of Pendleton West. It’s a new academic space for art. It has a lighting studio, more art studios, and tons of other cool things. A couple of my friends were exhibiting their art there. I wish I took pictures of my friends’ work but I didn’t, ugh.

I did take a picture of the view from one of the windows on the third floor. It was nearing sunset and looked peaceful. These photos reminds me of the reason I chose Wellesley. It’s a beautiful space whose beauty at times brings me great calm.

So there you have it. This week was me wandering around campus, walking into random buildings, looking for inspiration. Next week, I will hopefully share the music I listen to while walking.
