On Friday, I attended my first concert here at Wellesley as part of Fall Frenzy. The concert was a musician named Sampha ft. Kelsey Lu. Sampha’s a British producer, singer-songwriter, etc, who falls under the genres of soul and electronic music.
I was not very familiar with his music (I am now) but I was still very excited for this concert. I’ve heard great things about him. Sampha isn’t a well-known name but he has worked with some pretty well-known people like Solange (who I love) and Drake.
Sampha was great. His music is awesome and the performance was perfect. His voice sounded just like the recorded version of his songs. Which is rare for a lot of people in the music industry. Kelsey Lu was also great. She played the cello and sung. She had an amazing voice. I almost fell into a trance listening to her. I had a great time and found new music to listen to.
As mentioned before, the concert was part of Fall Frenzy which is put on by SBOG (Schneider Board of Governors). They are the org that organize some of the cool events on campus; usually things like concerts and shows. These events are put on to help encourage community while having some fun. College isn’t all about attending classes.
After the concert, I headed over to Cafe Hoop for some of their famous nachos and Nutella croissants. While waiting, some friends and I played with Uno cards and chatted about the concert.
A perfect way to end the night.
Until next time!
