This week is the first week of classes for Wellesley students. Although I am not on campus (I’ll be studying abroad again this semester in Geneva), I wanted to acknowledge the start of the new semester for Wellesley folks.
This is going to be my 6th semester as a college student and my second in another country. I’ll be starting my adventures in Geneva on the 13th of February. It can be hard starting a Spring semester. After the summer, you may feel energized to start a new year, but after a winter break, you can still feel like you are recovering from the previous semester.
My last semester in Senegal was definitely a great experience and one I will remember for quite some time. I was able to form great bonds with my host family and other people I met throughout my time there. I learned about things I never had an opportunity before which provided a deep and fulfilling academic experience.
Senegal allowed me the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, learn a new language and experience life with a whole different family. My semester in Geneva promises a very different experience. I will update my next posts with my adventures in Geneva.
Until next time,
Laïssa
