Harpin’ around

This is my third (fourth?) week of online classes. This week, in my art history class, we did a movement workshop. On our original syllabus, we had a class on movement with a performance artist. Since we’ve moved online, our class took place on Zoom. Going in, I was not sure what to expect but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Our course is on the Body and Contemporary Art, so it made sense to have understood our own body and movements. In the workshop, we created a persona that we had to embody. Imitate their walk, their talks, their mannerisms, etc. The person could be a version of yourself, a parody of yourself or a made-up character. I think the class had a lot of fun acting in this way.

Another exciting thing that happened this week was the arrival of my harp. I was able to get the Music Department to help me rent a harp in order to continue my lessons. Like many things, it’s been strange to see my harp instructor through a screen. However, lessons have been going well, and I am in the process of learning a new piece. The harp has attracted a lot of attention in my house but no one seems to be bothered with my playing it. It’s really cool having a harp at home, though, it is much smaller than the one at Wellesley.

That’s all for me this week. I’ve got to get back to finishing my thesis project. It is due in less than two weeks!

-Until next time
