One of my favorite things about Geneva is the diversity of people. There are people from all over the world in Geneva. In fact, I do not know many actual Swiss people, everyone seems to have origins somewhere else. Living in Geneva does not feel very Swiss, and in fact, many Swiss people outside of Geneva would not consider it so. This makes for a nice contrast when you leave Geneva to see “actual” Switzerland. There are quite a lot of cows and sheep.
One cool thing about Geneva not being very Swiss is that it’s a little bit of everything. This is especially true when it comes to cuisine. Because Geneva is so expensive, I rarely eat out, but the few times I have, I have always had a good time and a great meal. I’ve had Iranian, Turkish, Ethiopian, Thai, and Kurdish food. All cuisines you could find in another big city but given that Geneva is so small, they are all basically right next to each other.
Time has flown. I cannot believe I’ll be leaving Geneva in just a couple weeks. I really hope to spend more time outside of my room during my last couple of weeks. I want to spend more time walking around the lake, reading books in the park, going to the park and visiting museums to see their new stuff. Going out to eat has been one of the ways that I have been trying to “savor” my last moments here. But right now I’ve been mostly studying. The photo featured image is of the view from one of the study rooms in my residence. It’s really great.
Students at Wellesley just finished classes and graduation is coming soon for seniors! I am still in school for another 2 weeks and seeing all the celebration back home has made me slightly jealous. But nonetheless, congrats to everyone for finishing another year!
-Until next time,
