This past week was spent with my volunteer group at the Aquarium. It’s been a long time since I have been to an aquarium and visiting the New England Aquarium made me feel like a kid again.
I traveled from Wellesley to the Aquarium in Boston to meet my volunteer group. We had fewer kids with us on this trip but it was still fun to see my students outside of a classroom setting. The kids knew more about fish and other sea creatures that I did. They spent most of the trip teaching me names of fish, what they do and their importance to their ecosystems. I was blown away.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the aquarium. The aquarium was near the pier so I got some pictures of that as well. I also spent some time walking around. It was a pretty cool day so I wasn’t freezing near the water.
Being at the aquarium and the pier reminded me of Lake Waban; one my favorite parts of being on campus. Although the lake is not as biodiverse as the aquarium for many reasons, it brings a feeling of warmth to the campus. Walking around the pier outside of the aquarium made me realize that I need to complete one important Wellesley Bucket list item; walk around Lake Waban!
Another important event that happened on campus this week was a town hall. The Town Hall was on the new committee called Inclusive Excellence that seeks to make sure all students at Wellesley feel supported and have the tools to succeed academically, socially and more. Students were able to voice their opinions and have honest discussions about campus life. I am excited to see what changes will be implemented.
