walking around the lake

It’s been a quiet week so this will be a shorter post.

The most exciting thing I did this week was walk around the lake. Many Wellesley students will tell you that one of their favorite things about Wellesley is the Waban. The lake is one of my favorite things as well. When I was studying abroad, I always ended up in cities that were near a body of water. I think I wrote a post about how much I enjoyed walking around Lake Geneva.

I have been meaning to do my lake walk for a while now. It’ s not that I have never walked to the lake but I have never done the complete tour around it. This week, I finally crossed it off my Wellesley bucket list! Monday was President’s Day and a day off. We had unseasonably warm weather, and clear skies. It seemed like a perfect opportunity. The walk took me almost two hours to complete. It really shouldn’t have been but I kept stopping to take pictures or sit on a bench. I had a good time! Part of the lake is frozen, while another is not. I saw swans, geese, bunnies, people walking their dogs and plenty of squirrels in the woods. There is so much happening at once, it can be hard to stop and breath. The walk forced me to stop and breathe (not just because I was walking so much but because I removed myself and surrounded myself with nature). I encourage you all reading this to stop and go outside.

Here are some pictures I took on this walk.

This week, I finally submitted the outlines for all my thesis chapters and my advisor liked them. Now, I just need to get to writing. The thesis submission deadline is in late April so it is really time to hustle.

– Until next time,

Laïssa
