October has been a whirlwind of a month. I promise, I’ve been studying, but I’ve found that a lot of the events (lectures, movie screenings) I attend at Wellesley are far more interesting to talk about, as well as definitive of what my experience here is really like.
So, here is a quick run down of four events I attended these past few days! Also, I was being a terrible blogger and forgot to take pictures at all of them so please appreciate the flyers to the events instead. woops!
Slater Culture Show
a showcase of dance, singing, fashion, and comedy from all over the world – performances ranged from Japanese Taiko drumming to a Bulgarian singing trio. Everyone performing showed their pride for their respective cultures, and also appreciated and enjoyed others’ cultures as well.
Talk by Dr. Brenda Armstrong
It’s a bit early for me to be thinking about applying to med schools but seriously, this woman was Inspiring with a capital I. Holy cow. She reconfirmed my passion for medicine and pediatrics in particular — I’m so excited (AND NERVOUS).
Girl Rising Screening
This was an event that was a part of the International Week initiative. I highly recommend watching this movie, and sharing it with those who want to know more about investing in the education of young girls and how it can literally and directly change the world completely.
Floor Program – Caramel Apples
I think this photo says it all. I might’ve a couple pounds (and cavities) from this one but I say it was worth it. My wonderful RA in Severance Hall organized making caramel apples and I. Loved. It. Sev-a-love!
