Fall in Fredriksberg

I’ve had a pretty hectic week so far. After getting back to Denmark from a week of traveling last Monday morning, I had a packed week of classes and had no energy to leave my house over the weekend. I did go to Sweden (still trying to get used to how casually I hop borders in Europe) to see a family friend, and I also had brunch with a friend of mine from Tokyo in Fredriksberg, which is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas of Copenhagen.

This park near the Frederiksberg Palace was gorgeous. I’m glad I went that day because it was pretty nice out, despite the grey skies – blue skies are a rarity here past october, apparently – and the color of the trees were unreal.

Fall at Wellesley is actually beautiful as well. I took this photo from the campus center last year

Course registration for spring semester is happening next week! I’ve picked out the classes I want to take, and it’s nice knowing that as a Junior I have better odds of getting in to my top choices. I’m hoping to take a Seminar on Gender, Justice, and Health Policies (taught by my major advisor) in the Women’s and Gender Studies Department. Also in WGST, I want to take U.S. Public Health; I’ve learned so much about health policies and the welfare state here in Denmark in the past few months, and I realized I need/want to know more about the U.S. – and Japan, but I guess I can work on that while I’m home in the winter and summer. There’s a philosophy class called Medical Ethics that I want to take as well. To supplement my very health/medicine heavy courses, I will also be taking either Beats, Rhymes, and Life: Hip-Hop Studies or Latin American Cinema. It’s important that I get my graduation and major requirements fulfilled in the next three semesters (because that’s all I have left of college…?!) but I also want to make sure that I have time to work other parts of my brain and meet different students at Wellesley, too. Hopefully during my senior year I’ll find classes at M.I.T to enroll in as well!

Tonight, I am headed to the Ballet at the Royal Theater with my Danish Language and Culture Class. On Thursday, my Barcelona: Gender, Sexuality and Ethnicity class will be going to the Bøssehuset or “Gay House” in Christiania. Then Friday, after class I’ll hop on a plane to Brussels, Belgium to meet up with seven of my Wellesley homies. It is going to be a beautiful mess.

Hope you all have wonderful, productive weeks ^_^

side note: I want to make my blog posts worth reading for people who are considering applying to Wellesley, or are deciding between Wellesley and other schools… but it’s a little difficult when I’m spending this semester away from campus and in a different country! So I apologize for not having the most interesting insights into Wells life right now but I’ll be back in the spring when I’ll be able to tell you all more about Wellesley AT Wellesley.
