It’s that time of year again when everything seems to be speeding up, piling up, wrapping up, and starting up all at once. Classes are over in a little over two weeks. All the final assignments for classes I knew about all semester have just resurfaced in my consciousness.
Summer “break” begins when exams are over so people are getting their plans in order – it seems like Wellesley students never have a “break” unplanned – internships, jobs, research opportunities, etc.
It’s crunch time. But in the meantime, I had a great weekend. Hectic and exhausting but spent with the best of the best.
The annual Slater Spring Festival happened on Saturday. This is a multi-cultural celebration of the season hosted by the Slater International student community. Slater means a lot to me, and is such a huge part of my Wellesley experience because it was during Pre-Orientation that I met my closest friends and began to settle in to this new liberal arts/”all-women”/college/American environment.
Me and Lamisa at the Festival – watch out for our Co-presidential nominations in 2016!
Sunday was the biggest day of the weekend because it was my friend’s Birthday. That may sound ridiculous but birthdays are one of my favorite holidays, and J is one of my favorite human beings, so I had to go all out. Her other friend and I planned a full-day celebration – brunch, a scavenger hunt, picnic outside, a party before the spring concert hosted by SBOG – and it all went wonderfully. The weather was perfect and everyone had so much love for J. The Birthday Squad was exhausted by around 5pm but we rallied and made sure we were ready for Marathon Monday the next day.
I unfortunately don’t have any photos from Marathon Monday. BUT I do have this awesome photo of the view from my window. Monday was a long day but in all of the best ways. I spent every minute of it with great people despite the bad weather. And by the end of the day the sky cleared up!
