my brain is fried i can’t think of a clever title sry

I had the pleasure of spending an amazing week with family in Florida and New York.
My spring break was full of awful travel experiences but amazing family time.

It’s good being back though.
On Tuesday afternoon, my friend Naomi and I attended an event called Updates from Tohoku & A Night of Remembrance  at Berklee College of Music. It was a commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the March 11th disaster that struck the North-Eastern region of Japan. Several guest speakers talked about the different ways in which they are contributing to the continued relief efforts. The best part of the event was a performance by two Berklee students, both of whom are from areas in Japan that were greatly affected by the tsunami, earthquake and nuclear disasters. Their performance reaffirmed my hope to continue supporting my fellow nihonjin, Japanese people, in this ongoing recovery process from 2011 by using my skills and strengths.

In other news, College Government Elections Week is upon us here at Wellesley College. As a first year last year, I had no clue what was going on and so I wasn’t involved at all in this process… I don’t think I even voted to be honest. This year, though, I am helping my good friend Charlotte with her campaign.
She is running for the position of College Government President.

I was pretty involved in Student Council at my high school, but wow student gov is a way bigger deal here. It’s great though to see so many people engaged and excited about student-lead government, and hear the different concerns and ideas people have about various aspects of student life at Wellesley. Charlotte is also in Phi Sigma Lecture Society, which is where I originally met her. She was one of the Vice Presidents of the Society last semester when I joined, as well as a crucial member of the Wellesley College Swim and Dive Team, as well as the current College Government Vice President and overall wonderful human being. She’s one of those people whose enthusiasm and passion is infectious. I can’t be around her and not appreciate her zest for life and love for Wellesley.

I’ve got another busy week coming up! A whole lot of assignments for classes to do and events to prepare for (please excuse my dangling preposition). When I’m not in class, I’ll be helping with the campaign or at a meeting for Slater or Japan Club… or napping in my room… or I’ll be at the library “doing work” with my home girls.
