Another week has gone by and it feels like time is going by fast! I arrived in New York last Saturday and it’s been so nice to spend more time with my sister and explore the city with her while still being able to do my courses.
This weekend is my sister’s birthday so we celebrated as much as we can. We went to get some yummy dim sum, then threw her a little covid-approved party at her apartment, and tomorrow we’re going on a drive out of the city to the beach! During a normal semester on campus, I love taking weekend trips to visit my sister or friends from high school at neighboring colleges! (one of the many perks of being 30 mins away from Boston, and 2 hrs away from NYC) The only challenge of being in NYC during the term system is balancing the course load with the abundant distractions the city has to offer.
Spending time in the city has really brought me back to my college decision process. After receiving my college acceptances, I was torn between NYU and Wellesley College. The two schools are completely different: NYU, a large university in the heart of the city, and Wellesley, a small liberal arts school with a 30-minute commute to Boston. I mean attending college in NYC definitely has its perks, but I realized that I would have the rest of my life to live in the city, if I wanted to. Ultimately, I chose Wellesley because I fell in love with the beautiful campus and I knew I would thrive in a close-knit community. (If you have the chance to visit, you have to check out Lake Waban!)
Best,
Lynsey
