Thanksgiving Break!

Hello! I had a great week, partially because it was a half week and partially because I was able to spend some time with my family. We only had classes on Monday and Tuesday this week because of Thanksgiving break, so we had a pretty nice long weekend. On Thursday morning, my parents and I drove up to Orlando, FL to see and spend the break with my two sisters and my nephew.

Thanksgiving break came around at the perfect time. Last week and at the start of this week, I began to feel the “burnout” and semester fatigue kick in, and I always get that exact feeling right before Thanksgiving break. I slept around 12 hours each night during the break (I know total overkill, but I like to call it intuitive sleeping) and my entire family made jokes about the amount I slept all weekend. I am so glad I took the time to sleep, eat, and spend time with my family because I feel so energized now (just in time for finals haha). Don’t get me wrong, I am patiently (perhaps not so patiently) awaiting winter break, but that’s mostly because I am anticipating more sunrise beach outings with friends and some serious Netflix binge-watching.

Typically, during an on-campus semester, I’ll fly home to Miami and get so excited to see my friends from other colleges and my family. The excitement for the break kicks in about 2 weeks before the actual break and I completely forget about all of the pending assignments and exams awaiting me once we return to campus.

Similar to probably every college student, I never would’ve imagined going to college in the midst of a pandemic! I definitely miss being on campus and admittedly get a bit excited whenever I see a news notification about progress on the vaccine.

Best,

Lynsey
