I really like introductions!

Hi everyone!

An introduction is long overdue. My name is Macy, and I’m a newly-minted first-year here at Wellesley. My first month of college has been exciting and fun and exhausting. Everyone I’ve met has been so nice, and my return to academia after my gap year has been surprisingly smooth. I live in the best dorm on campus, Shafer, with the coolest people. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think I’ve already made lasting friendships.

This fall, I’m rowing and working in communications, so you might see my photos or writing on the Wellesley website. I live right nearby in Framingham, MA, which is super convenient, and also really exciting because one of my classes this semester, U.S. Immigration, uses my hometown as a lab. I didn’t think I’d go to college just to learn about where I came from, but it’s been really interesting. My other classes, How to Save the Planet, Intro to Peace and Justice Studies, and Computing for the Socio-Techno Web are equally engaging, and they relate to each other in all sorts of unexpected ways. Narrowing down my interests to just four classes was a real challenge, but I did a great job, if I may say so myself. I’m already looking forward to choosing my classes for next semester, but I’m also dreading it because I can only pick four.

I’ve been an avid reader of this blog ever since it was called Real Women of Wellesley, and I’m so excited to be on the other side of the screen. Follow along for snapshots of my daily life here, from early morning wake-ups to evening tea in the dorm, and everything in between. The little details are what set my eyes on Wellesley, and I hope I can do them justice.

Tonight, I’m off to a Shabbat picnic by the lake and then some team bonding time. Check in next week to hear about more of my favorite things!
