This week began with snow on the ground and nervous anticipation ahead of the election. It’s ending with a president-elect and unseasonably warm weather (5 straight days above 70℉ in November is not normal). In other exciting news, my computer came back to life, the dining halls put on a to-go version of bread and cheese night (not to brag, but the vegan plate looked so much better than the dairy one), and I had lunch with a friend in town.
The campus seemed to breathe easier after decision desks called the race for Biden yesterday. I was relieved. Trump has lost, but that doesn’t fix what he’s done. Having a big bully out of the White House is great (I loved what Van Jones said on CNN), but we can’t conflate civility with real positive change. I intend to stay more in the loop with the new administration than I was with the last Democratic president. (Granted, I was eight when Obama was elected.) I hope that the Biden administration does well, but I will read up about the good and the bad. Hopefully my summer phone banking crew will get back together to make calls for the Democrats running for Senate in Georgia.
When it’s 75℉ in November, you go outside. Yesterday, my friend Adeline and I rode a 20-mile loop through Wayland, Weston, and the Wayland-Weston Rail Trail. On the way back, we stopped at Crepeberry for a crepe (me) and an acai bowl (her).
The leaves have mostly faded to a dull orange, and the sky is dark by 5:00, but this incredible weather is bringing people back outside. I even had dinner outside yesterday (in the dark). This weather won’t last, but I’m hoping the good mood will.
