Gratitude

Even though I lost an SD card outside this week while I was taking photos, and I lost a friendship bracelet I was making for a high school friend and I hate losing things, and I feel like I’ll be applying to summer internships until I die, and daylight savings robbed me of an hour of sleep last night, and it snowed today, I am content. I have so many things to be grateful for, this week and always. Here’s a list:

  • Dining hall meals with friends. Lately I’ve been eating (at separate tables) with the same few friends. After math class, Adeline and I claim single-person tables that face each other at Lulu. For dinner, I’ve been meeting Joy and Kana, and we stay at Lulu long after we’re finished eating.
  • This week’s weather. It felt like spring for a few days. Tootsie and I were featured on the Wellesley Instagram when I set up my hammock between classes. (I even attended the remote research librarian session of my sociology class from my hammock.) It was so nice to eat outside again. I went for the best run I’ve done in ages, then a beautiful bike ride on Friday morning. It snowed today.
  • I published another Wellesley News article that was fun to write. Now I’m only working on one, rather than three at a time like I was for a bit, which is nice.
  • Twice-weekly covid tests. It’s such a privilege to get tested so often.
  • My job. My boss lets me change my schedule to fit whatever else I have going on, and I’m writing a fun article about faculty and their hidden talents. I lucked out.
  • Adults who care. I met with my major advisor last week for the first time since the fall, and it was so lovely to check in with her.
  • This campus! Walking is not a chore at Wellesley.
  • My mom, my brother, and my best friend, whom I’ve spent hours with on the phone over the course of this week.
  • The food is getting better. It’s not always good, but it’s much better than it was in the fall.
  • The patio! The patios at Lulu are open for the first time in my Wellesley career. Now I can eat outside at a table, rather than on the ground. It’s amazing! And long overdue.

The days are packed and flying by. My life is hectic, but it’s good.
