My last weekend at Wellesley

I hardly spent any time in my room today. Joy and Kana and I are making a video about the best bathrooms on campus (plus one of the worst). I loved joking about doing this but doubted would actually happen, but we spent the morning walking around campus and getting shots of our favorite stalls. I’m so excited for Joy to put the video together.

This wacky idea inspired us to walk to CVS after dinner last night. We were brainstorming what we could use as a microphone for the video, and I suggested a plunger. The close CVS didn’t have any in stock, so we walked to the far CVS and bought one. Then we got ice cream from the grocery store next door and ate it outside in the chilly night. There was a weird bunny display, so we took pictures. As one does.

On the walk back, we shouted along to old Taylor Swift songs. Finals were over. We all went to bed without setting alarms for the morning.

After a morning of filming and a lunch at Tower, I hung out on the grass, finished my ice cream, and watched some of our video clips. They came out really well. Then I went for a walk with a friend for over two hours. It really is spring! We got lost in some neighborhood in town where I used to run when the trails were all snowy, and we played songs for each other on our phones, like the unreleased version of “We Were Happy” that I downloaded when I was twelve and which Taylor Swift is releasing on her upcoming version of Fearless. (I had a big unreleased Taylor Swift song phase.)

This was my last weekend at Wellesley until the fall, if all goes according to plan. On Saturday night, I’ll be on a plane to Spain for a T4 abroad program. I’m excited—to use my Spanish, for the cool mornings and warm afternoons, to explore new places—but I’m going to miss my friends. My friendships have been so intense and rewarding lately, and I’m bummed to leave early. But Wellesley, and my friends, will be here when I get back. And hopefully more normal than they are now.

Just kidding. I don’t want my friends to be normal.
