Laughter and Tears

With the year coming to a close (classes ended last Friday, on May 9th, and finals period ends on May 20th) the different academic departments, administrative offices and organizations on campus are hosting end of semester gatherings. I’ve had so much good food and nice drinks in the last few weeks that I wonder how I’ll make it to Commencement without putting on at least 10 Ibs – something that *cannot* happen! LOL.

These gatherings provide the opportunity to reflect on my experience at Wellesley and to share with younger Wellesley students “a few words of wisdom” (basically what I’ve learned outside of classes in my four years at Wellesley haha). While I enjoy sharing “a few words of wisdom” because my speeches solidify my status as a senior citizen on campus (it’s funny because I’m pretty sure that I’m one of the youngest in my class since I was born in October…) I also take the opportunity to thank younger students for sharing their wisdom with me and having an influence on my time at Wellesley. I haven’t laughed and cried as much as I have in the last 10 days or so, and it’s surreal to think that I’ll bid farewell to this campus, friends, classmates, professors, staff members, mentors and more importantly my support system at Wellesley in less than 3 weeks. I can’t even begin to imagine how much I’ll laugh and cry then… Oh my, I’ll have to purchase waterproof mascara and tons of Kleenex!!

3. Pictures taken during LipSync 2014. Every semester, the House Presidents’ Council organizes LipSync, a talent show open to all members of the campus community that usually features acts by students involved in Residential Life (RAs, House Presidents etc…), . The different acts are judged by a panel composed of 3 faculty or staff members. HPC collaborates with the Schneider Board of Governors and the Director of On-Campus Affairs (DOOCA) to host LipSync, and the event is part of Fall Frenzy in the fall semester and Spring Week the following semester. Below are pictures taken during last week’s LipSync competition.
