I selected the Early Evaluation decision plan when I applied to Wellesley in 2o1o because the application deadline at most of the other schools I applied to was January 1st. I finished writing all my essays in early December, had time to edit them several times, and decided to submit my application slightly early (read: December 31st instead of January 14). That was a great decision, and I’ll tell you why:
1. I was done working on my applications right before kicking off the new year and I partied without stressing too much about finishing or editing my essays and applications.
2. I knew where I stood in terms of my future in late February while my friends were still very anxious to hear from the schools they applied to. When I received a notification that I was likely to be admitted to Wellesley, I only shared it with my immediate family. The early notification from Wellesley helped me relax when I started studying for the International Baccalaureate final exams in April and May 2010.
3. I showed off my incredible acting skills (hehe) to my friends when the final decision arrived in March: “OH MY DAYS! STOP IT! Wellesley wants me!!!!!!!”
I encourage you to apply EE if you think that you’ll have everything ready by January 1st.
Reminder: You must write about the Wellesley 100 in the supplement essay you will submit to Wellesley (via the Common App).
