Where to start?
Boston celebrated my arrival with a strong storm enough to keep our plane circulating above the airport for an hour, unable to land. I distracted myself with Ed Sheeran’s “X”, which is also the current sound track to my life. Worrying would have done me no good, but it was clear other people had been nervous about the landing, as most passengers burst into applause when the pilot finally maneuvered (beautifully, by the way) our plane onto land. As soon as I turned off airplane mode on my phone I received a backlog of messages from my dad, who’d been following the flight and seen the plane had been delayed.
The cab ride to Wellesley was painfully slow, but also served as the perfect opportunity to catch up with the Wellesley women with whom I was sharing a cab. When we finally made it to campus, Cathy (a friend) and I ordered Thai food from the uber delicious Lemon Thai nearby. I don’t think I have ever heard of a student who does not love their food. While dining, we also watched part of the Chinese documentary “Under the Dome,” which I definitely recommend. It is all about pollution in China and how it is affecting the Chinese population. Since I studied abroad in Beijing when I was a senior in high school, it was both interesting and scary to learn about what was going on in my body while I was there. I almost finished unpacking, but decided to go to bed early so as not to start off the semester already sleep deprived. I opened up at work the next day, and no longer used to the long shifts, six hours felt like a lifetime.
The first week of classes went really well. I am so excited about all the courses I am registered for. Already I had quizzes and labs due, and I am preparing for a test later today. On top of school and work, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about studying abroad and summer internships. I cannot wait to have a concrete plan in place, but I know it might take at least a few more months to do so.
Last week I wrote a bit about being nervous to come back. The first day I was a basket case, but the following days were more than alright. I really seem to have found the perfect balance to college life. I feel a lot more comfortable dealing with stress or things I did not see coming, and it has made life so much easier. I cannot believe how much regular exercise and sleep has helped.
Lastly, I just realized I promised you a link to photos I took of Wellesley last semester but never actually gave you it. Follow this link to see how beautiful the campus is during the fall. Winter pictures coming soon!
