I’m back at Wellesley! After over a year of not stepping foot on campus, I am here to stay (for one more year). I explained this to my sister by saying “It is like I never left, but also like I haven’t been here in over a year.” Quite a sparkly statement, I know, but it feels true. I remember the campus perfectly, and easily directed my Uber to my dorm, but I don’t recognise people. Two of the classes (first-years and sophomores) are entirely new to me, and most of my friends before leaving have graduated by now. So, being back here feels beyond strange. In addition to that, I have a lot to do in the following week. My to-do list is longer than I wish to admit right now. Before school starts on Monday I have to finish moving in, prepare for my classes, and talk to my dean and adviser to make sure all my credits are in order. I am also (thankfully) working at J.P Licks again this year, which I am both excited and nervous about. I loved working there and I am completely broke right now, so I welcome the hours. However, working too many hours caused a few problems during my first two years that I am not excited to introduce back into my life. Lastly, a friend I met while studying abroad is visiting me from Slovenia on Wednesday! I am hyped to see her, but nervous that I won’t be able to offer much since I will be working crazy hours and busy with school work. Can you tell from my stream of consciousness writing that my mind is working a mile a minute?
I am crossing a few things off my to-do list tonight, then working on moving fully into my room within the next few days. I wish I could finish tomorrow, but I don’t know if I will be able to find hangers right away. I guess I will leave it up to chance for now. There are three things I definitely have to do tomorrow, however:
- Pick up a suitcase I left with a friend at Harvard
- Meet with my new boss at J.P. Licks
- Finish (or at least get ahead) on some of the pre-readings for my classes.
At some point sooner rather than later I also have to buy my textbooks for class, but I don’t have the list of textbooks for every class yet, so I’m not too worried about that.
I have a lot to look forward to this semester! I am starting my last year of college, writing a research paper on my summer jobs from the last two summers, and getting ready for life after graduation. However, that also means I have a lot of self-discovery and career development to do. So before I get back to reading I want to thank you for being my bouncing board and helping me get my thoughts in order when it matters so much. Thanks for reading my blogs for the last three years, and I am excited to adventure into my last year at Wellesley.
