End of Semester Update

I don’t know how well I was able to hide it on my last blog, but last week was oh-so-stressful. I was really annoyed at myself, too, because I had created that situation myself. Regardless, I woke up yesterday feeling anew (never mind the cold I developed from overworking myself last week). I felt immediately better when I was finally able to return to my usual routine. I had never realised what a difference a routine can make.

Just two days ago I bought my tickets home for Christmas time. I was not originally planning on going back due to the cost, but certain circumstances changed and I will now head back in less than a month for a whole three weeks. I am most definitely not looking forward to the traveling, as neither my hometown nor Belfast are main cities so I need to take three flights each way. This works out to be almost 24 hours of traveling.

Anyway, I was a bit shocked to realise that there is so little time left in the semester. Queens is currently changing the way that semesters work. Technically, I should finish classes in December and return on the second week of January for exam period. As this is the last year with this setup, however, it appears all of my classes have moved finals to December. I am happy to get the extra time come January, but I think this will make my December quite stressful. I really need to plan my work better so I am not left to write four essays on the last week.

I don’t think I will be doing any more travelling this semester, especially now that I am going home for Christmas. I am quite sad about that, but I have to remember that I am already abroad, already technically travelling. I need to get better about seeing Northern Ireland, as well as the Republic of Ireland. I hope to take a day trip up to Bushmills this weekend, maybe go to the famous rope bridge and on the Bushmillls tour. I’ll have to wait and see how much free time I have now that the end of the semester is fast approaching, though.

Lastly, I believe early admission decisions are going out around now or just recently came out. Congratulations! We are excited to have you. Don’t forget to celebrate before you get around to working on essays and exams.
