Somehow I find myself in my last fall semester of college, about two weeks away from finals, and still surprised by how fast time flies. I’m always amazed by the conflicting emotions I get at the end of a semester: I’m looking forward to the holiday but not to finals, I’m looking forward to going home but fully aware that 5 weeks is a long time to be home, I’m trying to keep some kind of social life but also work and eat and sleep and study. Basically, this time of the semester brings out a cloud of conflicting emotions that will continue to build up until the relief of handing in the last final assignment, or taking the last final exam, and being done with classes if only for a few weeks.
Sorry about the unannounced hiatus last week. My Thanksgiving break consisted of some studying, some turkey, and a lot of reading. You guys know I love reading for fun, but hobbies like that tend to sit in the backburner when you are in college. I picked up a book on Wednesday that I could not put down, picked up the sequel the next day, and then the final instalment the day after that. To be completely honest, I actually did not like the series that much, but it was easy contemporary that I didn’t have to think about too much. Basically, it was exactly what I was looking for.
My sister came down from New York to visit for a day (picture above). We spent quite literally all day together, waking up around 6:00 and exploring Boston until about 23:00. It was great to see her! The rest of my family lives all the way south, so I don’t get to see them all that much. We ate Shake Shack burgers, Mike’s Pastry cannolis, and Felipe’s burritos throughout the course of the day with absolutely no regrets. Overall it was a great visit, and the break was more than welcomed and appreciated.
I am now back to the grind, though. I have another two midterm essays due before the end of the semester, and I have to plan (together with the rest of my group) the last class for our Engineering course, which we will be leading. Then four rounds of finals and I am done for the semester! Isn’t that incredible?
Just one more thing before I sign off for the week: have you guys heard of Joyner Lucas? His latest song, titled “I’m Not Racist,” is extremely powerful. It’s been a popular release, and I can tell the song is about to blow up. I am a little obsessed with him. His entire 508-507-2209 mixtape is incredible. You should all check it out!! Let me know what you think.
