Before even starting to tell you anything about my life, let me first acknowledge how beautiful this campus is. I have been talking a lot to a friend that goes to Northeastern, and I think I am driving him crazy with how often I tell him that. Look at the featured picture in this post. I was walking around campus, kind of in a hurry to get to class. I was looking at my phone, listening to music on my headphones, low-key stressing about the work I had to finish that night. Then I look up to make sure I am not about to bump into a tree or something, when I see this deer. It’s just kind of chilling there in front of me. The deer is tall and beautiful, and is maybe 8 feet away from me. I knew there were deer in our campus, but I am so happy that I got to see one with my own eyes. It left a smile on my face for the rest of the day, and I still smile thinking back to it.
Anyway, looking at the title of this post you might have immediately thought of marriage. That is not what my post is about. The post is about my love for learning, and how it is something that you need to be devoted to. I woke up yesterday morning with a cold. I wasn’t exactly surprised. I went to bed Monday night knowing that there was something going on, but I was not happy to be right. I could hardly breathe, given that my nose is completely blocked. I have no appetite, and there is a chance that I have a fever. I definitely do not feel like studying or writing. But my classes are not going to wait for me to get better. If I take even two days off, I will not be able to catch up with the work I put aside. So, despite wanting nothing else but to watch Netflix in a dark room by my lonesome, I had to write a paper, finish a book, write this post, and work on a couple PSets (Problem Sets). Hopefully I will be able to get some rest this weekend.
During Community Hours today (time on Wednesdays during which there are no classes scheduled so people can have events that everyone can attend) I went to a Peace and Justice Studies Gathering. I had helped a little bit with the organization, but my main role was as a panel speaker today. First-years, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors gathered to eat pizza and talk about our interests and experiences in the Peace and Justice major. I can hardly believe that I was one of four seniors talking to people who were interested in the major or about to declare a Peace and Justice Studies major. I was happy to share with them how I came to Peace and Justice Studies, why I chose it, and how it has impacted my life. It gave me a renewed interest in taking a larger role within the major.
From now on I will be posting my blogs on Wednesdays. I am really excited to take a more creative approach this year! You might have noticed that we re-vamped the entire site, which now looks much more attractive. I am currently working on a video project about the dining halls and a video project about the 50 Things To Do Before You Graduate. Keep an eye out for those! Until next Wednesday~
