Honey, I’m home!

Welcome back everyone!

I wanted to quickly (re)introduce myself, in case you’re new here:

My name is Shreya, and I’m a senior at Wellesley this year. Where has the time gone?! I’ve been blogging for the Wellesley College Admissions Office since my sophomore year: I’ve written weekly posts about my summer internship in Boston, experience studying abroad in Cambridge, England, and life as a Wellesley student. Now, I’m excited to document and share my final year at Wellesley with you all!

I hail from America’s finest city, also known as San Diego, California. I’m a Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences major and a Health and Society minor. I spent summer 2020 participating in Wellesley in Washington, interning at the CDC remotely from home.

Although things will be very different this semester, I still believe it’s going to be a memorable one. This fall, I’ll be taking courses in global health, political science, and statistics. In addition to all of that, I’ll be working on my senior honors thesis, in the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences, focusing on data visualization and decision making. I’m also continuing my CDC internship work part time during the fall. Although I won’t be physically on campus this semester, I’m excited for my Wellesley experience to continue, in whatever way possible.

Fall 2020 is going to be quite a unique time. My blog posts this year will feature my courses, thesis, CDC work, and more! I miss being at Wellesley, but I can’t wait to show my readers (you!) how amazing a combined liberal arts and historically women’s college can be.

Next post, as per tradition, I’ll be sharing the courses I’m taking this fall, my initial thoughts on how they’re going, and how they’ve adapted to a remote format. I didn’t anticipate my senior year looking like this, but I want to make the most of it. So, sit back, stick around, and check back every Friday afternoon for updates. I think it’ll be a good time.

That’s all for now,

Shreya

A sunflower I planted way back in June bloomed the first week of Wellesley classes. Coincidence? I think not.
