The Babson, Olin, Wellesley Collaboration

Hello hello!

Happy Thursday everybody!

Today I wanted to talk about the Babson, Olin, Wellesley (BOW) collaboration. All three colleges are located in the town of Wellesley, MA – Babson and Olin are short 10 minute drive away from Wellesley. Free shuttles are running between the colleges constantly, whether students want to take classes at the other colleges, participate in extracurricular activities (like theatre and pottery), or a change of scene!

There is a space on Babson’s campus specifically dedicated to fostering the collaboration and community between BOW students called the Weissman Foundry. The place is beautiful, with a full kitchen, tons of high-tech equipment, and a great space to meet new people and foster new ideas. Just take a look below! Images are from the Foundry website.

According to their website, “the Weissman Foundry is an open-door design studio, inspiring transdisciplinary innovative collaboration between Babson, Olin, and Wellesley for advancement of new/existing projects.”

I think a lot of students at Wellesley (myself included!) forget the fact that we have this amazing place available to us! Additionally, the Foundry provides numerous opportunities for funding – anything that helps furthers and fosters the spirit of collaboration between Babson, Olin, and Wellesley.

This weekend, I attended the BOW Fashion show, called Untitled! Untitled consisted of 36 entrepreneurs showcasing their original designs and clothing, on a fashion runway stage! Janos Stone, Manager of Innovation + Design (Spaces), The Weissman Foundry, said, “our show is a celebration of individual BOW student’s creativity as well as the combined creativity, community and collaboration it has taken to build the Foundry over the last year.”

Showcases ranged from accessories and wearables to shoes and upcycled clothes. I decided to attend the show because some of my friends participated in it! Inspired by Tim Gunn and Project Runway, they signed up to create and design their own clothing (using the sewing machines at the Foundry) and other friends were modeling it for them! Of course I had to go and support their fashion endeavor.

For a glimpse of the show, runway set up, and the amazing outfits and models, check out this video!

To the spirit of collaboration,

Shreya
