Hi everyone!
I’m a bit behind on posting, so I’m combining last week and this week’s post into one.
It’s hard to comprehend, but this week is the last full week of classes for my junior year. In a few short days, I’ll officially be a senior at Wellesley College. There are some papers starting to pile up, and work to be done, but it doesn’t feel real.
I wanted to keep this post short and sweet. Here is a list of some simple things at the moment that are keeping me sane.
- Writing letters. Holding a pen before a blank sheet of paper. Not staring at a computer screen. Transcribing jumbled thoughts on a cloudy morning, all while listening to a playlist called “Cafe Vibes” on Spotify.
- Professors who understand it’s hard to focus right now. Encouraging us to take a break and not stress. Telling us to take care of ourselves before we do anything else.
- Simply put, sunshine. Basking in the afternoon sun is enough to lift my spirits these days. Feeling the warmth on my face, arms, and legs. Getting my daily dose vitamin D to keep me going.
- The Isolation Journals. A brilliant project, made up of daily prompts to spark imagination and encourage us all to stay connected during difficult times. The perfect escape that is journaling.
- Phoebe Bridgers, Stranger in the Alps. Oddly comforting during these times. With haunting melodies, storytelling lyrics, this album is filled with slow burners for late nights. If I had to pick, my personal favorites are Smoke Signals, Funeral, Scott Street.
Deep breaths,
Shreya
