Hello hello!
Hope everyone is doing well in this busy time of year! This past week has been jam packed with many events, deadlines, and meetings. The weekend is only going to be busier! Here’s a look at what’s been happening at Wellesley:
The weather outside on Saturday and Sunday was beautiful – mid 60s, sunny, with a nice breeze. After studying for a while, my friend and I decided we needed to take advantage of the lovely day. So, we rented some tennis rackets and headed to the tennis courts! In the craziness of work, academics, and everything else that is going on, I often forget how lucky we are to have full, state of the art, tennis courts (and more!). After our game, we decided to go on a gorgeous lake run, stopping to pet any dogs we saw along the way. It was a great memory of a beautiful afternoon.
Recently, I’ve been watching (and reading!) the Game of Thrones series. It’s safe to say I’ve become slightly obsessed with it (the character development! the plot twists! the music!) Anyway, the Galen Stone Tower, an iconic feature of Wellesley’s campus, sits in the middle of the academic quad. Traditionally, the Wellesley College Guild of Carillonneurs ring the bells and play different tunes from the stone tower. The carillon was installed there in 1931. On Saturday, they played the Game of Thrones theme song, and I was ecstatic. It was incredible. My only regret is that I wasn’t reading the books while it played. I’ve attached a video below, enjoy!
Saturday night, I headed to the Wellesley College Hillel’s purim party at the pub. I ate copious amounts cotton candy, split a plate of cheesy dorito nachos from the Hoop, and danced to some great music there. What a time.
This week has been full of assignments and meetings and running across campus from Lulu to SCI. For my research methods course, we’ve started running subjects to collect our data (which is exciting and daunting)! I had a paper due for philosophy, and an exam tomorrow – it’s very busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m looking forward to this weekend though. On Saturday, my art history class is taking a trip to New York City, and visiting The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and The Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met)! On top of that, it’s MarMon weekend! Marathon Monday is taken very seriously at Wellesley (see here). We have so many exciting events leading up to it: Sign-making, Freaky Friday, Plaza Palooza (did someone say food trucks?!), and of course the Scream Tunnel! Saturday morning is also hoop rolling, one of Wellesley’s oldest traditions – I’ll be looking forward to seeing who gets thrown in the lake!
Anyway, that’s the end of my update now. I’m looking forward to posting about NYC and my adventures this weekend. Stay tuned for next week!
It’s almost Friday,
Shreya
