The Good & The Bad

To be honest, this weekend was rough– for the first time, I felt the effects sophomore slump and midterm season all at once. However, it was also a wonderful reminder of how fabulous my found family is. So, in light of always trying to find the silver lining, here are some highlights of this weekend:

Friday –

1:13pm: Lilly and I went to the Ville (a.k.a the town of Wellesley) and spent some time off campus @ cocobeet, a juice and smoothie bar. Over the summer Lilly and I spent close to 23 hours a day together as we worked and lived together so it’s been weird not seeing her constantly so when we can we like to do little things together.

5:44pm: Lilly and I met up again for dinner later that evening before we attended our Big Little ceremony for Agora. Big Little is an event in which the new members of our organization get big sisters or ‘bigs’ who become their mentors in all things.  I got my bigs last semester so this year I just went to watch. At dinner, we ran into our other friend Paige and we talked and hung out before we headed off for the event.

6:22pm: LITTLES GOT THEIR BIGS AND IT WAS AMAZING!!  (p.s. the header photo is from when I got one of my two bigs!!)

7:49pm: One of my friends, Rory, has a radio show at WZLY, Wellesley’s student-run radio station. It was two hours of good music and good company as our other friends, Katie and Emily (who is also my roommate) joined us.

Saturday –

6:45am: Every few weeks I pick up a Saturday morning shift at B/SPOKE, a spinning studio that I work at in the Ville. The shift runs from 6:45am-1:15pm which doesn’t feel quite as long when everything is fast-paced and exciting. Some people have asked me why I have chosen to work off campus; the answer is that I love being able to work with people who don’t go to Wellesley and spinning (you can ask literally anyone who knows me) has truly become one of my favorite hobbies.

8:08pm: The Yankees played the Astros in game seven of the ALCS series and unfortunately my beloved Yankees lost 0-4.

Sunday –

8:15am: I spun at B/SPOKE for the first time in a week and it was wonderful to be back on the bike.

10:00am: Agora hosted a 5K to raise money for an organization called Families for Freedom. With over 20 participants we were able to raise 310 dollars. It was a great time setting up the course with my fellow agoraites (members of the Agora society) and then finishing off the morning with a siblinghood brunch.

12:30pm: I had an essay due in one of my classes (Education 216– a course on education and social and public policy)  so I spent the rest of my weekend writing and perfecting it. It was stressful but I feel really good about what I ended up submitting.

See ya next week!
