Getting Around

Wellesley is a nice
place to live, but many students will tell you that we like to get away to
Cambridge and Boston. In my opinion, getting away is easier said than done.

Now, many of my East
Coast buddies are totally acclimated to public transportation. Subways, buses,
trains – they’ve done it all. I, however, am from a town where people drive. There is no subway or commuter
rail, but there is a lot of carpooling.  So this…

…means nothing.  I mean, I made it into Wellesley, so I could
probably figure out how to get to X stop…then again, am I going In-bound or Out-bound?
What station is this? Am I on the right train?!?

On the other hand, I
have the afore-mentioned lovely friends to help me out. When we go into town
they show me (as in, they show me every
time
) how to buy tickets electronically for the subway.  They help me to feel safe around sketchy guys.
And we take pictures like this:

Aren't we cute?

More often than not,
you’ll actually catch us on the Senate bus. It’s a bus that connects Harvard,
Wellesley, and MIT students to each other and to Boston on weekends. The Senate
is a beautiful thing, but riding forty minutes to an hour both ways to have a
little fun can be frustrating. Still, sometimes, the getting there is half the
fun…especially when you and your
girlies have the whole thing to yourselves.

If you get on and see this, you might as well call it a party bus.

I expect to keep learning about how to get around the
Boston area…I know I’ll get the hang of it eventually!
