The end of my first semester at college

I know how cliche this sounds, but I genuinely can’t believe how fast these past few months have gone by. My first semester at college is over and it felt like a blur.

Obviously, a lot has happened. I’m proud of myself for getting through my classes (and I will definitely miss shadow grading) Adjusting to academics, especially the first few tests I took, wasn’t easy at first. But now I feel like I have a better idea of what study methods work best for me and the amount of effort I need to put in for the grades I want.

I’m also very grateful for the friends I’ve made and for the fun I’ve had. I met lots of awesome people from all over the world and I explored Wellesley, Cambridge, and Boston. I really really like Massachusetts and I’m excited to spend the rest of college here.

As for personal goals next semester, I want to step out of my comfort zone more. Once I got into a routine at Wellesley, I sort of stuck to hanging out with the same people and going to the same places on weekends. I like following a routine, but I know it can make you stagnant sometimes and college involves trying new things. So, next year I want to try to attend some new events at school and introduce myself to people I haven’t talked to yet.

In academic news, I have an exciting update: I’m thinking more about what I want to major in (Wellesley students declare a major sophomore year) and I’m currently considering majoring in Data Science with a concentration in Economics. I have a lot of time to think about it and I need to do some more research, especially since Data Science is an individualized major here at Wellesley and that makes things a little more complicated. I might switch one of my classes this spring to an introductory statistics course for data science majors. I’ll update on how this all goes…

This will be my last post till January, so thanks for reading and happy holidays! Wish me luck on all my finals next week 🙃 And, I’ll include some of my favorite pictures from this semester.

It started snowing this week!
