Turkey Vacation

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! Mine was great and restful.

Before flying back home on Tuesday night, I had to complete an essay and prepare for a take-home midterm. I spent Monday and Tuesday finishing up my essay, studying for my midterm, and packing.

Wellesley provided shuttles to Logan Airport, so I took one. I nearly missed the shuttle because I was stupid and thought the shuttle was leaving from Alumnae Hall for some reason. I showed up to Alumnae ten minutes before the shuttle came and was a little surprised that nobody was there. Then it clicked – somehow I read that the pick up was at the Chapel, but my brain processed it as Alumnae. In case you didn’t know, the Chapel is basically on the OPPOSITE side of campus. In a panic, I rushed over to the other side of campus as fast as possible while lugging my suitcase and made it just on time. I felt like the scene from Home Alone 2 where the entire family sprints through the airport to make their flight.

When I got to Logan Airport, it felt like every college student in the Boston area was there too. Left and right, I saw Boston University, Boston College, Bentley University, Harvard University sweatshirts. I got on my flight and was back home within no time. This was my first time flying on my own and I’m glad it went pretty smoothly.

Being home was great and also nostalgic. It felt like little had changed and I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed the comfort of home since I’d started college.

Of course, the first thing I did when I walked back into my home was greet my cat with many cuddles. Thankfully, it seemed like he hadn’t forgotten me… Other than that, I loved sleeping in my spacious bed and having all my favorite snacks at home. Not having to wear shower shoes whenever I showered was definitely the highlight of being back home.

I spent two days of break hanging out with my friends and I swear that at the end of those days, my throat hurt from how much we’d talked. Hearing about everyone’s different college experiences was great, and it also felt like nothing in our friendship dynamics had changed at all. I still felt like I was back in high school.

I spent Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday with my family. My parents, grandma, and I are definitely homebodies. Our version of a nice day is going to an outlet mall in the suburbs or playing board games at home, which is pretty much what we did both days. At the outlet on Black Friday, I didn’t buy much. I just swatched way too many makeup/skincare samples at Sephora and bought a scarf since it’s getting colder in Massachusetts.

Break went by too quickly. I was sad to leave, but I’ll be back home within a month. I actually found myself missing parts of Wellesley too during break – the campus, my friends, but definitely NOT the dining hall food… haha just jokes, Wellesley’s food is actually pretty good for college dining hall food. But obviously nothing beats a home cooked meal.

Thanks for reading and I’ll include photos from my break! 🙂
