Visiting the MFA

Last Saturday afternoon, my friend and I visited the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston. For my Greco-Roman archaeology class, this week’s homework assignment was to visit the MFA and take notes on some artifacts. I was excited for this visit because I really liked the Harvard Art Museum (shoutout fall break blog post) and I think this class has made my appreciation for visiting art museums grow.

We took the school shuttle to Marlboro Market and it’s a twenty minute walk from there to the MFA, which is near the Northeastern University campus. MFA tickets are free for students attending college in Boston, which is awesome.

We first made a pit stop at the museum’s outdoor cafe. The weather this weekend was super warm and in the 70s, so my friend and I enjoyed just lounging outside in the museum’s garden.

We then headed back inside to find the Ancient Greek and Roman exhibits. The MFA had many engrossing exhibits that almost distracted me from my homework assignment. The Greek and Roman exhibits had lots of pottery and marble sculptures. We also saw the Ancient Egyptian exhibit which had mummies.

The MFA was amazing and I will definitely be returning on a full day to check out all the exhibits. Maybe not on a Saturday next time though, because when my friend and I exited the museum, the ticket line extended out past the sidewalk…

On the way back to the Marlboro Market bus stop, we stopped near the apparel and stationary store Muji. There, I made the serious purchase of a single ink pen.

Thanks for reading and I’ll include some photos from the MFA!
