Around Lake Waban

Lake Waban is definitely one of the prettiest sights on campus, and also something you probably have heard a lot about while applying to Wellesley. Seeing the lake from your dorm room is definitely something we brag about around here (I have a really pretty view of the lake from my room, which almost makes up for the small room).

The view from my room

Last week the weather was wonderful, so I got to spend some time outside. I walked around the lake (or as much as possible) several times in different directions throughout the week, so I decided to share that experience with you.

On Thursday last week, I walked down from Stone-Davis, in the direction of the President’s house. There’s a pretty cute small bridge on the way there, which I really like and think is very cool. If you go past it, there’s a path that feels like it’s deep in a forest and that leads you a bit around the lake. Right now, you can kinda see the lake and the campus on the other side of the lake, but I imagine that you would see them better in the winter when the leaves are all gone.

The lake

On Sunday I headed over the other way, around the library, through Lake House, and down the path around the lake that leads to the other side from the one I was at on Thursday. There’s this wooden pathway built over the muddy and watery places on this side of campus that is very nice to walk on. There are a lot of benches around this path, and I saw a lot of people sitting there and doing homework. I have also seen a lot of people playing musical instruments there. It’s a very beautiful place, so I am not surprised that people get inspired there.

I didn’t walk a lot further as it was getting rather late. Going back, the geese were in the lake near the shore, and I saw a lot of people taking photos of them. I decided to focus on the pretty sunset though :).

So, that’s it from me for this week. Stay safe!
