Hi Wellesley!
My name is Elise, and I’m excited to be writing a student blog for the summer as I work as an Admissions Summer Intern. Here, I’ll share my summer adventures and what it’s like being a Wellesley student.
I’m a rising junior, so I am part of the purple class of 2026, and I am majoring in chemistry. At Wellesley, I am a part of the cross country and track and field teams.
I am from Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I enjoy going hiking in western North Carolina when I am at home. For the last three summers, I worked as a camp counselor and taught rock climbing and kayaking. When I started college, it was definitely an adjustment to Massachusetts weather, but I love having snow and the beautiful fall leaves here. This is the first summer I’ve spent in the Northeast, so I’m excited to explore. I have one younger brother, two dogs, and one cat. My cat is named Dolly after Dolly Parton, and my dogs are named Izzy and Rosy.
For my sophomore year at Wellesley, I lived in Shafer in the Quint neighborhood, and in my first year, I lived in Severance in Tower Court. My favorite building on campus is the sports center, where I spend a lot of time as a student-athlete. Athletics has been a big part of my Wellesley experience, and I’m grateful for the community I’ve found through it!
Currently, I am settling back into campus life after being home for a few weeks after the school year ended. I’ve been running with my teammates and observing all of the amazing wildlife that comes out when campus is less busy. I’ve seen deer, raccoons, opossums, a groundhog, a snake, and so many chipmunks. I’m excited to go on Boston adventures with my friends this summer, and last weekend we went to a Red Bull Cliff diving competition, which was being held in downtown Boston. I’m hoping to visit Cape Cod and Acadia National Park this summer.
I hope this blog can be a resource for anyone interested in Wellesley, and I can’t wait to share what else I do this summer!
That’s all for now,
Elise
