A Day In My Life!

Hello Blog,

This week, we’ll be doing a classic: a day in my life as a Wellesley student (senior spring edition!). As a minor disclaimer, I have chosen a particularly busy day, so just remember all days are different and most are not nearly as packed as this one. Something I’m really trying to prioritize this semester is fun with my friends! The impending doom of no longer living a 5 minute walk from all my friends is upon me, so I am cherishing the mundane moments in dorm hallways and music practice rooms. Now, without further ado…

  • 7:30am: Good morning from my lovely room in Pomeroy Hall 🙂
  • 8:30am: First stop of the day – inorganic chemistry office hours. I drank some green tea offered by my professor while working on my problem set.
  • 9:30am: Music theory class – we were learning about figured bass.
  • 10:30am: Quick stop at Collins Cafe (one of the casual dining spots on campus that you can use “flex” points that are an extra $75 loaded on everyone’s account each semester). I got my favorite (a turkey club)! I love Collins because Mark (the man who works there) has known my name since sophomore year and is always so nice to talk to! I will consume this sandwich clandestinely throughout my next few stops of the day.
  • 10:45am: Inorganic chemistry office hours pt. 2 (we have a problem set due soon)
  • 11:30am: Inorganic chemistry – we’re learning about symmetry and constructing molecular orbital diagrams
  • 12:30pm: My advanced performance seminar! I wasn’t performing today do I just got to listen to other people and provide comments
  • 3:10pm: Class is over, and I have a quick break. One of my favorite things to do is check the music practice room schedule and find my friends, so I said hello to my friend before her music lesson and then answered some emails.
  • 4:00pm: The Herrmann Lecture where Dr. Matthew D. Morrison talked about The Political States of Blacksound.
  • 4:45pm: Chamber music society rehearsal! We worked a lot on getting our entrances correct in the piece we’re working on because they’re a lot of tricky compound rhythms.
  • 6:00pm: A workshop hosted by the Office of Intercultural Education (OICE) for Admission Student Ambassadors.
  • 7:30pm: I was supposed to practice cello, but I ended up finding one of my friends in the music building and we chatted for a bit too long…
  • 8:30pm: Practicing cello for real this time. I won’t lie, I am feeling quite challenged by some of the repertoire I’m working on this semester, so practicing is a necessity.
  • 9:45pm: I walked back to Pom (my dorm). My friend’s girlfriend is in town for Valentine’s Day so 4 of us hung out and chatted
  • 11:00pm: I finished my chemistry problem set, showered, and got ready for bed.

Until next time,
