A Day in the Life!

Hi everyone!

I realized I haven’t done “a day in the life” in a long time, so here’s one from my Friday during a relatively chill week.

9:18 a.m.

I wake up to my alarm (I don’t like my alarms being at a time that ends at 0 or 5 for some reason) for my 9:55 a.m. physics class. My roommate doesn’t have a morning class that day, so I dress up and get ready for the day quickly and as quietly as possible, which is not an easy task with the heavy doors and squeaky floors in Tower Court.

9:40 a.m.

I leave my room and head straight for the bananas in the dining hall downstairs. Breakfast is not my favorite meal of the day, which combined with the fact that I am definitely not a morning person, makes bananas the perfect morning on-the-go snack. The walk to the Science Center is an eight minute one, so I arrive in the classroom at 9:52, three minutes before the start of class. In class, we went through some wave equation solutions and a pretty long calculation of some integrals. To be honest, this is one of those classes that you need to be fully present for the entire duration in order to stay on top of things, so the time always flies.

11:10 a.m.

The class ends, and I head to the Leaky Beaker, the mini store/cafe in the Science Center. I got some ramen for a quick lunch. I always call my mom at this time since, due to the time difference with home, this is the only time that works for the both of us. I finish my ramen, and head to the room where I hold my office hours on Fridays. Since I am a Calculus II tutor, I hold office hours a few times a week where people who are taking Math 116 show up and ask me questions. This day nobody showed up, so I was just sitting alone, doing my Math 206 homework that’s due at the end of the day.

12:30 p.m.

My office hours end, and I head to my Spanish class. Since we have a midterm next week, we spend the whole class recapping the vocabulary and the grammar we have learned so far in the semester. We always do a lot of speaking exercises in class, and today is not an exception.

2:00 p.m.

My class ends at 2 p.m., and I quickly head to the Wellesley Community Children’s Center, a preschool that’s located on our campus, because my shift starts at 2 p.m. I arrive a few minutes late and start my shift in Infant 2. I really love my job there and find it to be a very relaxing end of my week.

5:30 p.m.

My shift ends, and I head back to Tower where I’m supposed to meet up with my friends for dinner. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but I have noticed that Tower always serves fish for dinner on Fridays, which is more than okay with me since I really love fish. I leave at around 6:20 because I have to go meet up with some other friends in the TV room of one of the residential buildings to finish the Percy Jackson TV show. As a long-term Percy Jackson fan, I had already finished the show, but some of my friends hadn’t, so we had decided to watch it (again) together, order some food, and have a chill night in. Sadly, I also had to finish my Math homework during this time (I know, procrastination is bad).

9:30 p.m.

After that, I head back to Tower and my room, where with my roommate and another friend of ours we watch the new Drag Race episode. It’s a really emotional episode, and we are really sad for the eliminated drag queen. After that it was time to go to bed. I have been going to sleep with an audiobook in the past few weeks, so tonight I end up listening to Mythos by Stephen Fry until 1 a.m.

So, yeah that’s a typical day in my life. I will probably end up doing more of these, so stay tuned!
