Greetings my lovely readers. I hope y’all have had a good week so far 😊. Okay, so for this week’s blog, I’m in a silly, goofy music mood ;). So I am sure that y’all know the art of journaling or posting highlight reels to convey your mood or just to showcase what you’ve gotten up to during the week? Well I am about to do the same thing for y’all through my recently played playlist! My playlists truly do hit every time—so I thought I would share that with y’all this week. Think of it as my mood board that is converting every emotion I have felt this week (and then some 😅). Get your playlists ready and be ready to take notes because I mean my music taste is elite, even if I do say so myself 😉…..If you guys don’t already know these songs or have them on your playlists , definitely add them (just don’t forget that I put you on and give me my tens!). So here’s this week’s weekly recap…
Monday – “Pretty Little Birds” by SZA (8/10) 🕊️
Monday started to chill and then got slightly chaotic. I was high on life from the weekend, and so I woke up with the delusional sense that I was going to take on the day (y’all I was being so optimistic, perhaps a little too much…😂) So here I am before my organic chemistry lab (I know orgo…yeah this is my life right now lmaoo) listening to SZA while trying to get my life together. I’m sitting at a table in the Science Center building and Pretty Little Birds perfectly captured my vibe: dreaming big, stressing a little, and pretending I was fine while trying to draw the structure for a molecule I was working with in my lab assignment. If y’all are familiar with chemistry, you’ll understand the deep frustration that comes with drawing those structures…… So after my 3.5 hour lab is over (again yes this is truly my life….😅), I turn SZA back on. I ended my day strutting across campus like I was in a hazy music video, powered by spicy ramen and the sense that I had achieved something great!
Tuesday — “Party Monster” by The Weeknd (7.5/10) 🪩
Okay, this might not make sense but Tuesday was chaos in slow motion ….Between classes, another lab period (this time for organismal biology) , and a raspberry lemonade dependency I have recently developed, I truly was keeping it together (well kinda). Also, I have to point out that Tuesday “Party Monster” hit too hard. It’s that perfect mix of tired and glamorous; the song you play when you’re spiraling but still hot. I may have been unwell, but I was unwell in style.
Wednesday — “Pink + White” by Frank Ocean (9/10) 🩷
Wednesday was what I like to call midweek softness. I slowed down a bit, put my phone on Do Not Disturb (it’s lowkey always on DND but anyways….😄), and took a walk between classes just to breathe and take in the scenery for a minute. The sky looked moody and rainy in that cinematic, “main character rethinking life” way, and Frank Ocean was humming through my headphones. For a few moments, everything felt like it was completely still — like the week hit pause and let me catch up. It was definitely a much-needed little reset!!
Thursday — “Desperado” by Rihanna (7/10)☔
Thursday was probably my least busiest day of the week so far. I started off the morning with my Introduction To African Politics class, where lots of learning took place of course (but also lots of yapping too 😏). This was my only class of the day y’all, so you would assume that would be the end of my day, but no! Even with this, I had emails, essays, and deadlines all screaming for my attention, but through it all “Desperado” became my anthem for walking through campus like I owned the place — part dramatic and part exhaustion. My motto for the day was you can be stressed and a queen simultaneously. Honestly y’all when I channelled this idea, my day went up…..daily positive affirmations are definitely the way to go.
Friday — “Pray” by Tayc ft. Davido (9.5/10)🎊
Friday was all about self-care vibes. No plans, no running around — just me, Netflix, and an endless scroll of DoorDash options. Tayc + Davido played in the background while I debated which comfort food would fuel my solo chill session. Honestly, it was perfect: cozy blankets, good TV, and good music. It was the perfect reward for myself after completing another jam-packed week of classes and responsibilities!
Saturday — “This” by Amaarae (8/10) 😜
Saturday was playful chaos. I slept in, ate too many snacks, FaceTimed family, and just let myself vibe. Amaarae was the perfect soundtrack — funky, confident, and slightly introspective. It was the kind of day where I could do whatever I wanted (within reason), dance in my room, and feel like the main character without leaving my room. Saturday energy: chaotic, colorful and netflix.
Sunday — “Feeling Myself” by Beyoncé ft. Nicki Minaj (10/10) ❤️🔥
Sunday was all about reclaiming my power. Laundry done, tea brewed, candles lit (well this part didn’t actually happen since we can’t light candles in our dorm rooms but it’s still nice to romanticize my life 😂) — “Feeling Myself” hit while I got through my tasks for the day and got ready to take on another week around my room. I don’t know what exactly came over me, but I suddenly just found a new burst of energy and joy. Confident, calm, unapologetically me — exactly the vibe I needed to prepare for a jam-packed but also fun week.
So yeah, this week was messy, magical, and also kind of beautiful in its chaos. Between the laughter, the stress, and the playlists that kept me afloat, I can definitely say I had quite an interesting week….. Anyways, y’all, thanks for tuning into another one of my little life recaps 🫶. Here’s to more weeks full of rhythm, resilience, and R&B therapy. See you soon, loveliesss!
With love,
Your favourite Brit x ♥️
