I hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend! Every year I say this, but I cannot believe it’s already November. It has felt like nonstop exams this past month, and I can’t wait to go home for Thanksgiving break in a couple weeks.
Today, I want to write about something I have noticed in my past year at Wellesley: how your fashion can change in college.
During my first year here, I noticed a change in the way I dress from high school. In high school, my go-to was wearing baggy jeans and long sleeves. When I came to college though, I found myself gravitating towards comfier clothes. In high school. I changed from jeans to pajamas the moment I got home. However in a regular college day, I wear the same outfit for much longer and jeans feel uncomfortable by the end of the day. Thus, I loved wearing sweatshirts and yoga pants last year.
In addition, packing for college has made me realize what clothes I really need. Since I unfortunately cannot bring my whole closet with me to my dorm, I have to decide which clothes I actually wear often and need versus which to leave behind at home. When I packed for my first year of college, I made a Notes app checklist of every shirt and pants I was going to bring! I feel like many freshmen overpack clothes for their first year. Since beginning here, I personally have learned that I don’t need that many t-shirts; I get cold easily, and since it’s chilly for most of the school year in Massachusetts, I wear long sleeves way more and try to pack more of those for college now. My personal favorites for college are long sleeves in my favorite shades of dark blue and green, they go with every outfit.
This year, I am trying to diversify my wardrobe and not wear yoga pants constantly. I’ve done a pretty good job so far! My biggest “fashion inspiration” is definitely fellow Wellesley students. Wellesley students have amazing style, and I have seen so many interesting outfits that I didn’t even know existed outside of Pinterest boards. People regularly express themselves through fashion here.
Thank you for reading, and I’ll include photos from my week.
