Hello beautiful people,
I can hear my mother laughing “Free-paper bun,” a Jamaican saying that refers to the end of holidays and a return to school. While my summer intern position will be concluded after this, fear not! I will be working at the admission office for the entirety of the year, so feel free to reach me at askastudent@wellesley.edu with any questions or comments!
I recently hit a Duolingo milestone, practicing the Spanish language for over 365 days! I took the time to celebrate this with a refreshing smoothie from JP Licks with my friend Alliance, and I spoke with her about our goals for the upcoming semester. This Duolingo journey has taught me a real lesson: Consistency is key, but only if you’re consistently getting better. Mastering consistency, means that you’ve learnt how to continue to show up and continue to be present when you need to be. This shows you’re disciplined and that you’re able to maintain a routine. Growing up, another saying that I always heard is “only an insane person does the same thing over and over and expects to get a different result.” It’s literally the same with “consistency is key” that always feels like an incomplete sentence.

My Duolingo streak!
Consistency is the key to progress because it allows you to get better by just changing small things every time you show up (since you have the discipline). Once you’ve mastered that, take it to the next level! I have mastered consistency in practicing Spanish by showing up on Duolingo, and I took it to the next level by enrolling in the 200 level class this semester. The class is an intensive review of all language skills and introduction to the art, literature, and cultures of Spain and Latin America with an emphasis on oral and written expression and critical analysis. My next level up might be living in Spain!!
Thanks for reading!
Mis mejores deseos,
