F1 Movie Review: I was geeking over Damson Idris the whole time……….Brad was just kinda there

Greetings Lovely Readers! Did y’all miss me….because I missed you!!!! I know it’s been a while since I spoke to y’all since we took a break last week for the 4th of July. I know I bring you guys such fun content every week, so I hope you guys were okay without me 🥹🥹. Anyways y’all know the drill by now, it’s the same as every week! Grab those snacks, get that drink (the only right answer is tea, y’all know me by now), and get comfy as I take you guys on a little rewind through my Tuesday night of watching the new F1 movie with my amazing friends who I adore so much!

Now, I will be really honest with you guys, initially in the beginning I was not very excited about this movie! I actually saw the preview during the trailers for other movies that were playing when I went to watch Sinners for the second time! (Yes that’s right, I watched it twice, and I am not at all ashamed! Both times were amazing!!!). I wrote a separate review for that in another one of my blog posts, so if y’all haven’t read that yet, you should check that out. So anyways, as the trailer came on for F1, I was not particularly impressed with what I saw. The first red flag for me was seeing the one and only BRAD PITT as the main star in the movie…immediately I said to myself this movie is going to be a straight CHOP! I don’t know, I just feel like for me, he’s not someone I particularly care for, so I wasn’t necessarily moved by the whole idea of making him the front runner of the movie. However, I will say the tide definitely did turn for me when ONE OF THE FINEST MEN ON EARTH came on the screen!!!! Damson Idris!!!!!!!!! Y’all when I tell you I was so geeked when he came on the screen……I don’t know what you guys think but that man is one fine specimen 😍. I almost started screaming in the theaters. Actually, correction! I did scream a couple of times due to excitement but you know that’s just me—I’m a very unserious person y’all so that’s very on brand for me 😭😭. I do know that the people near me were probably really sick of me at that point!!!! So after seeing him and actually paying proper attention to the trailer, I was 100% sold on the movie, and my fellow Admission Summer Interns and I  all decided that we could come back to watch it ☺️. I mean even if the movie wasn’t good, I would still get to see Damson so that was definitely enough motivation for me!

Myself and my amazing friends Bri, Chelsea, Sofia and Rachel with the poster! They are some of my favourite people ever and I always love spending time with them, so we had a lot of fun together watching the movie 🙂

So fast forward to Tuesday night…..we are standing in AMC Framingham. We spent like 30 minutes trying to figure out what to eat because we are an indecisive bunch of people… finally after going back and forth we decided! I’m kinda picky about the types of things I would eat during a movie so I was stuck between getting an actual meal (burger, fries and a drink) or just getting some popcorn with an Icee. Finally I decided on the meal because I was like I want to make sure I don’t get hungry later, especially since we were not going to be  done with the movie until like 11:30 at night. I don’t know about y’all, but I do not have the patience to be trying to find food at that time of night!

So fast forward to the movie….From the moment it started I was so locked in!!! So for context, I do not know a lot about F1. I obviously know a lot about the really prominent drivers in F1 like Lewis Hamilton , Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Landon Norris. I mean those are huge names so I’m aware of them, but when it comes to the intricacies of things like what F1 drivers do and how they are able to perform on the track etc……I am completely lost y’all! I quickly found out though that not having a lot of knowledge about the industry did not really matter. The movie was very easy to understand, and it was super engaging all the way throughout! I was so glued to the screen that I almost felt like I was in it because of how much I was enjoying the experience of watching it! The soundtrack was also so amazing!!!!!!! So before the movie had actually been released, I knew that one of the biggest songs that had been teased was ‘Just Keep Watching’ by Tate McCrae. I really liked the song when I heard it, so I was also really excited to see how it would be featured in the movie…..So when I saw the scene I was so geeked!! Having the experience of seeing it in the movie with such loud speakers and bass was so unreal!!!! I am not ashamed to admit this…..but everytime a song came on, I pulled out my phone straight away and got my phone to listen and tell me the song. I was doing the absolute most y’all I won’t lie 😂…..but the movie was 10/10, from the fast-paced intense racing scenes to the whole aesthetic and vibe of the scenes to the beautiful scenery of different countries across the world. It is definitely one of my favourite movies that I have watched this year!!!

I of course would recommend that all of y’all go watch it. My movie reviews are tea so believe what I’m saying is 100% true! Anyways thank y’all so much for joining me again this week! I look forward to catching up again soon!! Until then, all of you should go and watch the movie…you’ll definitely thank me for it! See you soon lovelies!!!

With Love,

Your Favourite Brit x ♥️
