Feeling 22 (Tapas Edition)

Greetings my lovely readers! I hope y’all are feeling rejuvenated and had a chill week so far…. Mine has been kinda hectic, not gonna lie. So technically, I have actually only had 4 days of the week since we had our annual Tanner Conference that we have every year, and classes were cancelled for it. It was a really great day, I got to support my friends and see their amazing and fascinating research/projects that they’ve been involved in over the last year or so. Aside from that, I have been very busy! This part of the semester always feels intense because there is so much going on, and right now I am knee deep in planning an event for ETHOS (Wellesley’s Black Student Union).

For context, I am on the E-Board for the organization, and my role is Siblinghood Chair! Essentially, I plan events and cultivate spaces that bring the community together, building strong relationships/fostering a strong sense of sisterhood 💕. Anyways lmao I am getting sidetracked…the post was not meant for this lol. In the future, I might do a separate post about the event and all I did to plan and oversee its execution! Back to my favourite topic, which yes you guessed it (again), IT’S FOOD!

This Tuesday was such a fun one! I finally traded my lab goggles for a cute outfit because it was my friend’s 22nd birthday, and of course, we had to celebrate in proper style—cue: Barcelona Wine Bar. On the car ride, I was on aux (I mean I do have the best music taste so this was a given tbh 😄). So of course in typical me fashion, we had Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Doechii and more……Everytime I am in the car I always end up on aux y’all. Firstly everyone just knows I am going to play the best songs so they feel good about giving me the responsibility. Also, it may also have something to do with the fact that I am like 5’11, so I kinda have to sit in the passenger seat to give my legs some room lmaoo 😂

Anyways, rewind to us arriving……From the second we walked in, the vibe was immaculate. Low lighting, warm chatter, the clinking of glasses—it felt like stepping into one of those dreamy little city scenes you see in movies. I am romanticizing my life again….it makes storytelling more fun guys, so just walk with me here! We were all dressed up (the dress code was fall colours we all kinda gave that vibe but in different ways ofc), and the excitement was unmatched.

We started with tapas—so many tapas. Patatas bravas, empanadas, seafood paella, calamari, croquettes, pork belly, goat cheese something (still thinking about it), and bread that honestly deserved its own round of applause. Each dish felt like a mini event, and every few minutes someone would gasp, “No, THIS one’s my favorite.” That was lowkey me for half the night…I loved everything so I would gasp every time a new dish hit the table 😋.

Then came the drinks—sangria, obviously, because what else says birthday celebration better than fruity wine in a fancy glass? 🍷 (y’all I could not drink because I am not 21 yet…..not until the 1st of November ☺️). We toasted to friendship (I had a fruity mocktail instead lmaoo), to growing up, to surviving midterms, and to making it through another Tuesday without coffee. It felt so surreal sitting there, laughing with such a fun group of people, realizing how lucky I am to be able to make such heartwarming memories and have such amazing experiences. The birthday girl looked absolutely radiant, and honestly, seeing her so happy made the whole night feel golden 🥹.

I have given y’all some pics above, so you can get a little peek into the food we had! We yapped away the whole night, and it was honestly one of the best nights I have had so far at Wellesley!  By the time we left, my belly but also my heart was full, and I couldn’t stop smiling. Y’all I was so geeked, food truly does bring me so much joy (and my friends too of course🤣….) There’s just something magical about nights like that—good food, good friends, and that feeling of happiness but also immense gratitude for those around me 😊.

So anyways, that was how I went from stressing over lab reports to laughing over dinner with amazing company. 10/10 night—no notes. Thank y’all for joining me for yet another fun-filled blog! I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my week. I can’t wait to catch up with y’all soon, and in the meantime, I hope you get to have a meal that makes your heart as warm as mine was 🥹.

See you soon, loveliesss!
With love,
Your favourite Brit x ♥️
