Hello beautiful people,
Culture is important, and my friend, Sophie, chose to share a part of hers with me through food! Last week, we went to Hungry Pot for Korean hot pot, just a 12 minute ride from Wellesley! I highly recommend this restaurant; it felt like an immersive Korean cultural culinary experience, as we essentially cooked our own food! Sophie shared her cultural expertise, recommending the best meats, sauces and rice cakes (my new favourite!).

Sophie enjoying her meal!
Even though we were just casually having dinner, Sophie took the opportunity to share some of her family’s precious food traditions with me. So we were no longer simply eating, we were bonding through our shared storytelling about food and culture. We even shared our unpopular food opinions. Mine was that hot sauce doesn’t add flavor… just spicy heat that adds no value, just spicy uncomfortable heat…I would love to hear your unpopular food opinions, write to me at: askastudent@wellesley.edu to share!
The food was genuinely so refreshing and delicious. But what really made the night unforgettable were the laughs we shared, and the meaningful conversations that deepened my relationship with Sophie. I left that restaurant full (quite literally and figuratively)—I was stuffed with yummy food and my heart was full with gratitude for my friendship with Sophie!
If you ever find yourself craving good food, conversations and laughter, Hungry Pot might just be the trick!

Food is better when shared!
See you next week!
Best,
