From Monopoly At 1AM to The Boston Public Library: My Saturday In The City šŸš

Greetings my lovely readers! Y’all it’s getting colder in Boston … .and yes I know I am British so I should not expect good weather, but yikes its kinda brutal lmaoooo… Anyways, I hope y’all are feeling rejuvenated and had a chill week so far….I have been knee deep in assignments and exams lately, so things have been kinda hectic around here! So this past Saturday was genuinely one of the funniest, sweetest, and most chaotic days I’ve had in a while.

First of all for context, this entire trip was planned at 1am in the middle of a Monopoly game. Yes, you read that correctly. Five sleep-deprived college students, aggressively arguing over fake properties (y’all we were arguing for like the whole game…when we play Monopoly or Uno it gets really serious honestly šŸ˜‚) and then suddenly decide: ā€œLet’s go study at the Boston Public Library tomorrow.ā€

I don’t know if it was the hour, the competitiveness, or the collective delusion, but we were all like, Yes. This is brilliant. Let’s be productive queens.
And shockingly enough… We actually did it (I was truly surprised, so I don’t know what that says lol).

So the five of us rolled into Boston later that morning (technically it was still the same day…I didn’t go to bed until like 2AM guys 😭), trying to look awake and also scholarly (delusion was really driving me that day lmaoo). Every time I step into a library, my GPA rises by 0.5. The tall ceilings, the long wooden desks, the green lamps — it truly does give ā€˜mysterious academia.’

When we got there, the library was packed!!! It took us like 20 minutes to find some seats because everywhere was taken lmaooo…Finally after a lot of walking, we found a spot. So we opened our laptops, and actually got to work. For a solid hour. A RECORD.

The Mandatory Sugar Break šŸ©

But as you can imagine, the productivity didn’t last. After an hour, the collective energy dipped. Hard.
Someone sighed.

Someone else shut their laptop dramatically.

And then someone said, ā€œDunkin run?ā€

Say less.

We walked over to Dunkin, and I ordered a maple syrup donut. Y’all… it was soft, warm, a little sticky, very sweet — essentially the donut version of comfort. I devoured it with zero regrets.

The Blank Street Line We Did NOT Sign Up For šŸµ

Just as we were about to head back, one of my friends (who is a Blank Street enthusiast to her core, mind you this was her first day trying it….) said she needed to try the new strawberry shortcake matcha. Needed. As in, her soul required it.

So weĀ  trekked over there… only to be met with a line that was going round the corner basically on the curb y’all!!!!!

We waited thirty minutes (This might be a bit of a stretch, but just walk with me guys…)
Thirty. Whole. Minutes.

In November. Did I mention it was so cold also?????

By the end, we were all questioning our life choices. But she took one sip and literally lit up like a Christmas tree. So I guess it was worth it for her — and for the story (We did it for the plot I guess…..)

Back to the Library Until They Literally Closed šŸ“š

We dragged ourselves (and her matcha) back to the BPL and somehow entered our productive era again. Honestly, the chaos-fueled sugar rush may have helped. We worked until 5pm, when the library gently reminded us that, yes, they do close and yes, we do need to leave now.

Five girls packing their bags in slow motion… It was very cinematic.

Dinner at Berklee’s Noodles šŸœ

By the time we stepped outside, we were freezing and starving, so we headed to Berklee’s Noodles. I’m convinced noodles taste better after a long day — especially a long day of pretending we were more academically serious than we actually were.

It was warm, cozy, delicious — the kind of meal that instantly replenishes your soul. I got a fried rice dish with a side of spring rolls and y’all……let’s just say I was very happy! The food was so good and also super filling. I also got leftovers which is always a bonus 😊.

And of course… Ice Cream šŸ¦

Because apparently we don’t know when to stop, we made one final stop at Van Leeuwen (the best ice cream ever!). I grabbed a large cup that had three scoops:Ā  Coffee Affogato, HoneyComb and Brownie Batter Sugar Cookie Dough (or something like that…it was a long name lol) and yes, this was treat number three of the day, but listen… balance. My heart was happy and that is all that matters!

So anyways, that’s how a random idea thrown out at 1AM over a chaotic Monopoly board turned into a day filled with sunlight pouring through the Boston Public Library windows, a maple donut that changed my life a little, thirty minutes of matcha-inspired patience, cozy noodles, and ice cream that was truly the best I have ever tasted. Truly one of my favorite Saturdays this semester — no notes🄹.Ā

Thank y’all so much for joining me for this week’s very chaotic but very wholesome blog! I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into my Boston adventure.. I can’t wait to catch up with y’all again soon, and until then, I hope all of you get to try a matcha from Blank Street (my friend is their biggest fan now, so I have to pub them for her). So this is dedicated to her🄰.

See you soon, loveliesss!
With love,

Ā Your favourite Brit x ā™„ļø
