Fun Events and My Free Time

Hi everyone!

This week has been a little hectic, not gonna lie to you all. I feel like I blinked and the week went from Friday to Wednesday. The absolute highlight of the week was definitely the Expo Culture Show. It was held by the Wellesley Caribbean Society this past Saturday. The show was absolutely fantastic, and it had everything—music, dances, poetry, traditional clothes, etc. I laughed, I was amazed, and I even cried a little during the speech from one of the professors during the show. There was also food after the show, and that always elevates the experience, hah.

I have also started working on my research project for the semester more seriously this week. I have been going over the results, simulations, and files from the student who was previously working on this project, and I am now ready to take over and add onto it more. The project itself is related to what I worked on over the summer (you can read more about it in my summer catch-up blog from last semester!).

Another fun thing that happened this week was an event at one of the cultural houses on campus this past Friday. It was a salsa and lambada workshop where we all just danced around and learned the basic steps of those dances. It was really fun because I was there with my friends, but we also had to split up and meet and dance with other people. That was a little awkward at first, but once we got past the first few minutes, the vibes were great again.

In my free time, I have been taking a lot of walks to the Ville because the weather is finally good enough to be outside without freezing. I have also been sleeping really early, which is not very normal for me, hah. I have been reading before going to bed (instead of being on my phone), and that has honestly made all the difference. As a result, my screen time is also going down a lot (I feel like 3 hours a day is very reasonable, especially when my normal one used to be over 5 hours).

So, yeah, that’s my updates for the week. I will now be going back to studying for my midterm tomorrow. So, wish me luck! See you next week.
