Guys, it’s getting serious

Hi everyone!

I have had one of the busiest and longest weeks of my life. With homework, midterms, work, my thesis, and the Slater Culture Show, I have been juggling a lot of things. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (aka Thanksgiving break). We are almost there!

I just got out of a meeting with my thesis advisor, Dr. James Battat, and we talked about the outline of my thesis. Scary! Doing science is stressful, but I thoroughly enjoy it. Writing, however? No part of me enjoys that (yes, it is a little ironic given that you are currently reading my blog). But it is an important skill and one of the reasons why I decided to do a thesis (and this blog) in the first place. James keeps giving me textbooks to read and use as sources. So far, I have opened 3? of them. This is my thesis carrel currently:

Several textbooks on a shelf.

I will get to them eventually!

Now, to the actual thing that has been taking up a lot of my time: the Culture Show! Just in case you need a reminder, this event is put on by the Slater International Students Organisation every fall, and it is a chance for us to share our talents and cultural backgrounds with the Wellesley community. Guys, it is so much more work than I ever imagined, hah. Things are moving along fine, but I have never emailed that many people in my life before! We have such an amazing line-up of performers. Just look at our programme:

Get it? It’s a train ticket because our theme is Global Express :))

We have been contacting performers, arranging for food (it will be amazing!), arranging lighting, sound, decorations, equipment…everything you could think of honestly. I am super excited for the show though. In these uncertain times, it is so comforting and important to come together as a community and support each other.

By the way, guys, this is a photo my friend sent to me; she saw me and Slater’s treasurer, Harshika, freaking out about our food order in the middle of Lulu, the student center. In retrospect, I think it’s kind of really funny that we were just crouching on the floor by the doors.

That’s it for the week. I will tell you how the show went when I am back with my blogging after the break!
